The Kids Of Lesotho

I am amazed each and every day when I see these kids here. These kids have the most basic lives and live in utter poverty. Even with the conditions and small amount of things they own, they have the most joy of probably any human I have ever met. They swarm you and hug you and touch you and look up to you. Little things like a high-five (of which I had to teach them to do), smiles, playing soccer, or talking seem to fill them with joy. They are infatuated with me taking their picture and then they giggle and scream in delight when you show them the screen. These kids are the most humbling thing i have experienced this whole trip. It makes me think twice about my life and what I take for granted and my whole attitude. The expectations for my trip were surpassed completely the first day. God is doing something amazing.

Growth of children's group

Yesterday we had a truck drive around the village and drawing children into our meeting and service and about 90 were there. Today over a 130 for the same type of service for children. We gave out 100 frizbees and the children were so happy to have a toy but they were afraid to throw it that they might loose it. I am very tired and sunburnt but we had a lot of progress on the walls of the church today and tomorrow we will be praising God in the same space where we were sweating today. I miss my family and home but I feel a powerful movement of God about to erupt on us here in Lesotho.

Our First Night in Lesotho

We all have arrived safely and met up with some missionaries down here in Lesotho. We are hoping to make a difference in these peoples lives and that they will come to know Christ as their personal savior. We have met some of the little kids and they were so happy to see us...Please keep our team in your prayers that we make it home safe and that the people will come to know Christ...God bless

Summer in South Africa

Right now I am sitting in an internet cafe after having "hake and chips" (fish & chips) for lunch. We made it into Johannesburg last night and spent the night at a conference center. Now we are on our way into the "Kingdom of Lesotho" and will arrive there in just a couple of hours. It is 1:00 in the afternoon here; 5:00 a.m. in Kansas City. Will write more when we get to Lesotho!

Blue Springs Assembly sends 26 to Lesotho, Africa!

Building a church in the small country of Lesotho--located entirely within South Africa--has been just a dream for the members of the missions team from Blue Springs Assembly. But next Tuesday, January 12th, will be the starting point of the reality that we are actually going to build a church in Africa! Our missionaries to Lesotho, Rev. Alan and Pat Pettenger, are planning to welcome the group after a very long plane ride.

Our hope is to keep everyone informed of the happenings of the trip through this web blog. Look for more information as we arrive on foreign soil and during the Africa missions trip!
